Newsletter 5/2025

Hello dear ballet friends,

I warmly welcome you to the fifth newsletter of the Oremek-Reeves Ballet School in 2025.

The year is drawing to a close and Christmas is just around the corner. Looking back on 2025 fills me with deep gratitude.

Gratitude for so many special moments, so many lovely people, for the children's shining eyes, shared amazement and for a togetherness that carries dance far beyond the stage.

This year was truly rich in highlights (pictures: see below).

A very special milestone was our phenomenal performance at the Hessentag in Bad Vilbel in June. Under the open sky and in front of a large audience, my dancers were able to show why Hesse is the most beautiful federal state.

It was magical on 1st of September at the Lantern Festival in the Bad Homburg Kurpark. Between lights, music and a late summer atmosphere, a performance was created that lingered long afterwards. For us as well as for the wonderful audience.

At the family afternoon of the Ober-Eschbach Kerb, our younger dancers showed with great enthusiasm that a stage does not have to be big to capture hearts. Closeness, joy and community were the focus here.

Equally touching was our performance at the harvest festival of the Protestant Church, where dance, gratitude and reflection came together in a wonderful way.

The crowning glory of this eventful year was undoubtedly our spectacular performance of Peter Pan at the Kurtheater Bad Homburg.

Two evenings full of imagination, courage and childlike wonder, carried by tremendous dedication, months of preparation and an audience that rewarded us with standing ovations. A moment that will stay with me and my dancers for a very long time.

None of this would have been possible without my dancers, your families, supporters, helpers and my dear friends. Your trust, enthusiasm and loyalty are the foundation of my work.

As wonderful and busy as this year has been, there has also been a sad loss. Erika Mattke passed away at the blessed age of 99.
My dear aunt spent decades lovingly sewing our costumes and laying the foundation for our wardrobe. Even in the most stressful moments, just before a performance, she always had a safety pin or a clip somewhere.

A dear former student put it very aptly in her sympathy card:

‘The angels in heaven will be lining up to sew her dress!’

I say goodbye to this special year with gratitude and look forward to 2026! A year that will be all about our ballet school's anniversary.

I wish you and your families a wonderful, peaceful and contemplative Christmas season, quiet days between Christmas and New Year and a happy New Year 2026. May it be a healthy, peaceful, loving, happy and successful year for us all.

Warm regards,

Jasmin
